These hardworking folks need essentials, such as food, water, and minerals, as well as a few luxuries to help pass the time. Instead of using your hard-earned goods to build up a military force, you start trading with nearby colonist communities. That's where the similarities end, though. Build a couple of power plants, manufacturing facilities, maybe even a farm or two, and you're ready to go. It's also surprisingly helpful to continuously demolish and rebuild buildings if too many of your opponents are producing the same resource.You'd think a real-time strategy (RTS) game where you never raise an army or even fire a shot at an opponent would be a cakewalk at best and downright boring at worst. It's important to build the patent early since they are competitive, but the hacker array is the best special building in terms of making you money- keep invoking steel shortages early then expand to whatever other resources you produce. Take time often to look at what your opponents are building, and always watch the price tickers and try to sell constantly. Anyhow, I highly recommend pausing the game after you settle and after every base upgrade. After upgrading I went for glass factories quickly as there is very little silicon, as well as expanding farms and power. I started with 3 iron mills and one aluminum mine. It really helps to replay the science HQ tutorial better living through chemistry as it will remind you which buildings correspond with what resource, and gives a pretty good build order. This one is tough, I just beat it after quite a few attempts. Also, don't forget to buy majority share pretty quickly too, since you start out with a lower level of stock than the other difficulty levels. The shortcut shows up when you hover over the sell button, they just didn't mention it in the tutorials. Leave a few claims near the HQ to use as a rotating set of claims to build whatever is in high demand.ĮDIT: Two things I forgot: Use the autosell function on things you're producing a lot of that are still worth something (i'd say like >$30-40/unit). Building a patent lab helps too, since you have a 50% boost to research on patents.
